125 Years of Trojan Tradition - TLLA's 2013 Annual Benefit

On Saturday, February 23, 2013, TLLA members and invited guests will gather at the newly completed $70 million, 110,000 square-foot John McKay Center on the University Campus to honor USC Athletics at its Annual Benefit.

Each guest will be provided an in depth and informative tour of this new $70 million, 110,000-square-foot athletic and academic facility which is only open to USC Student Athletes. The facility includes many state of the art features. Upon entering the building, you will be immediately impressed with the two story video board in the Parker Hughes atrium, which can display up to six big screen televisions, as well as promotional videos and graphics.

The building also includes an indoor practice field, meeting rooms, coaches’ offices and a locker room for the football program, as well as the Stevens Academic Center (including space for tutoring, counseling, study and computer rooms for student-athletes), a weight room, an athletic training room and a state-of-the-art digital media production facility for all of USC’s 21 sports. The benefit will offer 20 minute breakout sessions covering unique issues important to the success of USC Athletics and shall be presented by USC’s best. Anticipated topics and speakers include the following:

• The Coliseum—Now and the Future; The Business of Sports at USC, by Steve Lopes, Senior Associate Athletic Director at the University of Southern California and recently named Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of the Trojan Athletic Department, and Kristina Raspe, Vice President for Real Estate Development and Asset Management at the University of Southern California;

• USC Olympian Panel—Past USC Olympians and Current Olympian Trojans by John Naber, five-time medal winner at the 1976 Montreal Olympics and Haley Anderson, cocaptain of the USC swim team and a London Olympics silver medalist.

• USC Athletics and the Media by Tim Tessalone, Senior Associate Athletic Director and Sports Information Director and Media Spokesman for USC Athletics, Pete Arbogast, a graduate of USC and long-time radio announcer and play-by-play voice for USC football and Paul McDonald, USC All-American quarterback who led his team to a National Championship in 1978 and two consecutive Rose Bowl victories, 17 NCAA, Pac-10, and USC records, and All-American honors in 1979.

• USC’s Championship Coaches by Peter Smith, head coach of the USC Men’s Tennis Program, who has guided the Trojans to their third straight NCAA Championship.

Invitations for the benefit will be distributed soon. Information for tickets will also be available on the USC Alumni Website. The proceeds from this benefit will not only enable TLLA to continue its support of USC student scholarships and recruitment, but will also enable us to fulfill our pledge of $150,000 to USC Athletics to fund the first floor Learning Lab at the new McKay Center.
